Perfect Fit blinds can only be installed on uPVC windows and doors with internal beading that has a rubber seal, due to the specific brackets they require. They cannot be fitted to wooden frames under any circumstances. They are also not compatible with sliding doors, as the frame extends approximately 23mm from the surface, which obstructs their movement. Additionally, they may prevent some folding windows and doors from closing completely flat against each other.
How To Measure
-
Step 1: Important Checks Before Measuring For Perfect Fit Shutters
-
Are Your Windows/Doors Suitable For Perfect Fit Shutters?
-
Do Your Windows/Doors Have A Rubber Beading?
Make sure your window has a rubber beading between the glass and the frame. This is a flexible seal that helps secure the glass in place and provides insulation. If your window does not have this rubber beading, Perfect Fit blinds cannot be installed, as the brackets rely on it for a secure fit. Also, if your windows/door have a square beading, then they are not suitable for Perfect Fit shutters.
-
Do Your Windows/Doors Have Enough Clearance?
Check for any potential obstructions, such as handles or vents, that could interfere with the blinds. Measure the distance from the inner edge of the rubber beading (where it meets the glass) to the closest obstruction. If this distance is less than 25mm, Perfect Fit blinds cannot be installed. Additionally, we recommend testing the movement of window handles to ensure they can turn freely without hitting the blind frame.
-
Is Your Beading On Your Windows/Doors Suitable For Perfect Fit Blinds?
Beading Width: Use a tape measure to check the width of the beading from the edge of the frame. Perfect Fit blinds can only be installed if the beading width is less than 6mm.
Beading Suitability: To check if the beading is suitable, take a credit card or a similar flat object and try to slide it between the glass and the beading. If you cannot insert the card to a depth of at least 10mm, then Perfect Fit blinds will not be compatible with your window.

How to Measure Your Window
- Using a tape measure, measure the width and drop of the visible glass pane in three different positions.
- Note down the smallest width and height measurements, excluding the rubber beading.
- Top Tip: Exclude the rubber beading from your measurements – only measure the glass.
-
Measuring the Bead Depth
- Place a credit card across the corner of your window frame.
- Measure from the glass to the edge of the credit card to determine the bead depth, typically between 1.8cm (18mm) and 3cm (30mm).
